Q: How much does it cost to move?
A: It depends on a lot of factors, but our average move was $400 last year. For more accurate estimate, Complete the quote request form and we'll respond promptly.
Q: Do I need to pack everything - or - what do I need to pack to prepare for the movers?
A: If it is smaller than a breadbox, then put it in a box. Remember, you are paying your movers by the hour, and it takes us a lot less time to dolly out boxes than to carry out miscellaneous items and find safe places on the truck for it. In fact, our movers are trained to refuse to take certain items if not properly packed.
Q: Does New Caney Movers provide packing services?
A: Yes. You can hire New Caney Movers to pack every room in your house or just your kitchen. You pick the level of service that you want.
Q: How much does it cost to pack my house?

Q: Where do I get moving boxes?
A: Some people try and collect miscellaneous boxes before they move. This can actually cost you money on moving day. Using uniform sized moving boxes helps the movers load the truck quicker, and since we get paid by the hour, using good boxes can save you money.
Q: Does New Caney Movers sell moving boxes?
A: Yes. We carry a complete line of boxes and moving supplies and we offer free delivery if you are moving with us. For box prices, see Moving Supplies.
Q: Do I need to empty the clothes out of my dresser drawers?
No. There is no need to use the extra boxes. Our movers can handle the extra weight. However, you will need to remove any loose items in the drawers, like papers, change or jewelry.
Q: What do I do with the clothes in my closet?
A: We sell or rent a specialty box called a wardrobe box. Each box holds approximately 2' of compressed hanger space. For box prices, see Moving Supplies.
Q: What can I do to save money on my move?
A: The biggest thing you can do to save money is to be prepared for the moving company to arrive. Have everything packed up and ready to go. Put all of your boxes in 4' high stacks in the living room or garage and allow movers to put them all in one room at the unload. Disassemble beds, take mirrors off of dressers, and basically prepare all furniture to be moved. Be available to answer the mover's questions regarding furniture placement. Don't plan anything else for moving day.
Q: Are you insured? What happens if you break a piece of my furniture?
A: Yes we are insured. In the event of damage, we will repair your furniture if at all possible. If the damaged piece is not repairable, we will pay the depreciated value of the damaged piece. (Texas state law for damage is $0.60 per pound per article. If there is a damage that can not be fixed.)
Q: How do I pay for my move? Do I have to make a deposit? Will you bill me?
A: All residential moves are paid for at the completion of the move. We accept cash, credit cards, and personal checks.
Q: Are all of your movers full time employees with experience?
A: Yes. Many of our guys have many years of experience and our new hire criteria include professional moving experience. We are also committed to continuous training for our employees.
Q: How do I know you're not one of those unscrupulous moving companies that you see on the news that quote one price and then charge another, or damages furniture and doesn't fix it?
A: New Caney Movers is a fully licensed and insured moving company. We are also listed on Angies List.
